If you were agnostic, would you send your child to a c of e school? Raised catholic and felt really muted as girl growing up

No, I probably wouldn’t choose it over a school that was just as good. If that was the fortunate position I was in. However as one was our catchment school, I had little choice, and nowhere else was available. Thankfully the religious content was low key. Others are less so. You have to visit and ask about how intrusive the C of E ethos is. Some schools are much more involved with the church than others. See if you feel it’s too much or bearable.

My DDs barely noticed it at primary. It was more obvious at secondary because the daily act of worship was more formal. However if the school is great on every other front and you cannot get into another one that’s as good, put your past to one side and keep an open mind.

I'm not sure you'll realistically have a choice.. seems to be all church schools in our catchment

Depends on the school. Some are much more “hard core” than others.

I went to a Catholic primary even though I am not Catholic and it was very fully on. My kids go to a school with a Christian ethos. They say grace and have Evensong once a week. Just enough religion for me!
