hi I'm new to the site I am asking for other paents opinions on what the procedure is for homeschooling my 13 year old son. he has very low confidence and social issues so I have had to take him out off school. my issues are how do I set him work knowing that he is learning enough and for his age. I am struggling with the whole process and would appreciate help from other parents with experience, advice and help thankyou

There are online schools, like inter high, where he can log on to lessons and classes- this might help know what he needs to be covering.

What year is he in?

shellkelly71 · 24/09/2018 20:14

He has just started in year 9

You can buy revision guides and workbooks to cover most GCSE topics. Just go along to Waterstones and find the study guides section. Letts and CGP are good. After you deregister, someone from the LEA should be contacting for a meeting about what you are doing and IME they were there to help rather than judge.

Also try posting in "Home Ed" as you will probably get more advice.

Have you had a chance to check out what home ed activities there are in your area? If your son has social issues he might benefit from some home ed meet ups. There are often sports groups, social groups and tuition groups going on for Home ed children. Try Facebook. Academically, I found Conquer Maths helpful for my teenage boy. I’ve also used MyTutor for some science lessons (they do lots of subjects). We’re using Wolsey Hall as well at the moment.

Shellkelly, there is a home ed section on mumsnet. If you look under "Education", "more..."

This Wiki might be a good starting place, there is an associated mailing group he-exams.wikia.com/wiki/HE_Exams_Wiki
