DD got her place through clearing on a course that usually requires BBC. She starts soon and I'm really worried.

I think it depends why she got CCC and also the course

That was just the grades she got? The course is Zoology.

I got CCC and came out of a RG university with a 1st. I had a hard time at school and found university much easier.

Well its not unusual to get on to a course 2 grades lower than the offer. I think you need to have faith in the university's ability to admit the right students for their courses. It will not be the first time they have admitted someone on those grades and they must have good outcomes otherwise they wouldn't.

I think as long as the student is prepared to put in the work it's no problem at all.

I think she will be fine. Sorry my question was whether she was finding studying a struggle. University is a lot about managing your time and I found it very different to school

My daughter missed her firm choice and got a clearing place who'd lowered their offer.
We went the other week to have a look at the uni and the lecturer said that they don't randomly offer places if they don't think the student will cope with the workload. Now I know this was the uni she's going to but I'd imagine other unis would do the same.

I got CCCE and came out of university with a 2:1.

I got a BCDD and got onto my BBC degree and got a 2:1. I learned HARD that I needed to up my study game.

Like other posters have said - what was her work ethic like at school? Was she expecting to get higher grades? A-levels can go wrong for all kind of reasons - if she just didn't work hard and is still not prepared to work hard then yes it will be an issue if she's able to put in the work and manage her time I bet she'll be absolutely fine.
