Am curious for other people’s experiences for courses in other subject areas rather than STEM for ages 13+ that don’t cost an arm and a leg, but give a good insight into their subject matter. Thinking lawyers, geography/history based ones etc. My ds has recently enjoyed a course by TST, but his sister tends to enjoy the arts subjects more.

I’ve seen those when googling, but would really like some personal recommendations if possible - have you used them?

Tomorrow's Achievers www.tomorrowsachievers.co.uk

My kids did a few of their courses several years ago and enjoyed them.

My pre teens have taken some really good, live, online, interest-based classes with Outschool www.outschool.com

There's a new British company that has started offering similar classes www.thinkersmeetup.com

Thank you both of you, I hadn’t considered online courses and they look very interesting. There are one or two there that we wil certainly consider - but I would really like some residential recommendations too as that is just as much of a learning experience.

Debate Chamber courses have been excellent for my kids. They have clamoured to return each year (Didn't happen with Smallpeice or EST)

Propitia · 21/07/2018 23:08

Note that Debate Chamber are week long typically but not residential.

Debate Chamber does look very interesting, a shame that it looks like it’s only based in London though. I don’t supppse anyone knows if similar in Manchester/Liverpool and other northern cities?

Thanks HunkyDory was thinking for next year anyway when she’s old enough - will have a good google about the local uni’s and see what’s currently being offered Smile
