Hello we deferred entry in London as my ds is a summer baby. Then we moved to Birmgham that he already had deferred and I applied for reception here online and as it wouldn't work I put 2014 as year of birth .
Now they have withdrawn the place as they say I didn't defer entry here 😡
IF the child already had deferred entry why would I defer here again ? Help anyone ! Tx

Hi there. What a mess. See if HQ can move this to Education where more people can see it? Click on report post and in the text box ask for thread move.

We've moved this to Education.

I'm afraid Birmingham are right.

Your local authority in London and the primary school your son was attending allowed you to defer for a year and enter Reception. Other schools and local authorities are not bound by their decision.

If you want your son to start in Reception now you have moved you have to get the agreement of the school and local authority in Birmingham.

Did anyone official tell you to put the incorrect date of birth on the application form? If so, you might be able to appeal

Hang on. You lied on the application, and are now cross they aren't offering you a place ? Hmm

A deferred place is between the school, LA and parents. Another school or authority don't have to honour the deferred place.

This is why deferring a place is so complex. So many problems can occur when it hasn't been thought out properly. Had you contacted the school / authority in Birmingham to discuss prior to applying with a false dob?
