I have been looking around for somewhere to move and came across Crawley, Horsham as can commute into London. We visited the areas just a quick visit by train and even though Horsham was nice etc schools we just though Crawley was more down to earth ( for lack of a better word ) for us. We are however a bit worried regarding the schools as we have a 6 year old. What is the current situation regarding primary school and is the secondary schools any better? We have done a bit of research and want to concentrate our search on Three bridges, Pound Hill, Copthorne, Maidenbower. What are your thoughts on these areas ?

Don't know much about the school situation in recent years, but used to live in the area when the kids from Maidenbower went to Hazelwick & I believe it was a good school back then. My assumption is that the new secondary in Maidenbower would be at least as good if not better. Beautiful place to live, we could see the forest from our bedroom window & I've a real soft spot for Worth too. You can walk through from the bottom end of Maidenbower straight into Tilgate forest

For commuting to London, Three Bridges station has better services than either Crawley or Horsham.

Primaries on that side of Crawley are good (don’t just look at the Ofsted grading), but you might need to wait for a place to come up.
I’ve heard good things about the secondary options too.

Would stick to the north side. Worth and pound hill and Maidenbower. Pound hill infant is brilliant, not sure about Juniors. Hazelwick is ok, Oriel is good. Oakwood is good in Horley and Horley might suit you more. Good juniors at Yattendon and Meath Gree, and Langshott.

Oh yes I loved Meath Green. Glad to hear Oakwood are on the up too, they were struggling a little back in the day

Me again, I name changed. Husband is a govenor there. Just had Ofsted with a 'good'. Now getting fuller and kids get entry to Reigate sixth form which is very good. My son went to Meath Green and he and I loved it. Horley is good because although it isn't centre of the universe, you can get to anywhere relatively easily. Also being able to walk to Gatwick is ver6 handySmile
