Any ideas what is tested?? Ds1 has come home say that they start their tomorrow, I didnt even know they was gonna be doing them. Feel really bad, like i've neglected his education.

If they're anything like ours then they're non statutory and only marked within school.More of a way for us teachers to judge how much/well we have taught them and how much they have retained. He'll be tested onMaths and Literacy and possibly science.

he has them tomorrow, wednesday and friday. Hopefully It will just be 1 test each day. Will speak to his teacher in the morning, but have come home in a bit of a panic.

Please don't panic, we tend to 'downplay' them at my place too. We don't want the kids to stress as they're not as important as the Year 2 ones. Do speak to the teacher and she or he will quickly put your mind at rest. There is nothing that can be revised for either so don'tpanic

I wouldn't feel bad, wurlywurly. Our school doesn't even tell us parents how our children got on in the Year 3 SATs so I can't see a huge point in preparing . They really don't have a life-changing effect. (Nor, actually, do the Year 2 or even Year 6 ones...)

they are not sats as such - they are optional tests
they are usually very low key and used internally as assessments

Aren't SATs in year 2??

Gobbledigook · 21/05/2007 20:41

Juliet - give us a couple of examples!

wurlywurly · 21/05/2007 20:43

i'm not worried about them, just a bit shocked as nothing has been mentioned by their teacher. I know he will be fine and he is not worried about them at all.
