Garden House School London

I am keen to hear from current parents and staff as to what this school is like. It seems to be a lovely small school, and I am interested in how the boys and girls are taught separately but have the benefit of being 'together' at times.

The fees seem quite high, but it is in Chelsea, so is this fairly typical of the area?

I have a colleague who used to work at Hill House and said that it was a place where quite a few celebrities sent their kids but that was well over a decade ago, and unfortunately I don't have anything more up to date than that or particularly helpful at all

Happy. My DSs have been to a few schools in different countries and GHS is in another league when it comes to happy staff and children. And they still get outstanding results.

It is very happy and lovely. It depends what you want, it didn't have as much academic drive as some of the other schools and that is the main reason kids leave or parents don't pick it. Results at 11+ (or before) are fairly good though. It does have mostly incredibly wealthy international families so think through if you fit in that category or would suit that environment.

It is an absolutely lovely school - I keep repeating this as for me that was its USP... a very happy, beautiful school with quite an innocence and special feel. A bit like a precious dolls house with precious children (not necessarily in a bad way!). I don't know if it was grounded enough for me but I would consider it if I was living in Chelsea and had children who would suit it and enough money to keep up.

The girls' school head has changed recently as Charlotte Faber left quite unexpectedly.

Boys tend to leave at 7 or 8+. Some girls go to Bute etc at 7+ if they want a more academic environment or boarding at 8+ or beyond but most stay on.

close family member was registered there at about age 6 months in 2014. right away we were told there was no spaces available for age 3, possibly for reception. so far no calls, so i suspect she is unlikely to have a spot.
traffic was a bit of a concern, it was a challenging school run.

The school encourages parents to walk/scooter/bus to school where possible rather than drive. There's a school bus which picks up from Parsons Green, New Kings Road and Kings road. I don't know the girls' school, but boys school children aren't remotely precious! Just normal, all-rounded, happy boys.
