Does anyone have twins in different school years??

OK, I know this is a bit bizarre, but I was thinking about this the other day...

What is someone gave birth to twins, and one came out at 11.59pm on 31st August and the second at 12.07 on 1st September???

Would they have to be in different school years?

I suppose to widen the discussion, what about children (e.g. step children + birth children) who are only a few days apart, but in different school years?

Funny I was just talking about this today to someone. We came to the conclusion that any headmaster would be sensible enough to bend the rules. It would be too unfair to have one twin going to school a year earlier.

Mrs JCusack - why do you ask about Bury?

Presumably parents with twins due at the end of August think about this? I'm sure there was a case in the paper last year and the LA was insisting they were in separate shcool years. Somoeone on another thread had a view about the wisdom and discretion of Local Authority Admissions

There is exactly 7 days in age between my mum and dad, but they were in different school years when younger. Seems strange to think that such a small age gap can mean a whole year of education behind (when growing up I mean, not now)

When I was a student nurse I met a woman and her 2 girls (who were 9 at the time) during a school nurse placement. The girls were 9 months apart, one born Sept, the other the following June.
This woman was dead proud of herself, "I planned that, me" I remember thinking as a naive 19 year old "WTF?!" Why would you PLAN that?
Now as a slightly less naive 34 year old, I still think "WTF!?"

otter - only because I had a friend in the same school year as her younger brother and wondered if by some major MNet small world coincidence Filyjonk was talking about the same person.
