If you applied for a job as a teacher, and the school had a waiting list

If you got the job, would your kids have to go on the waiting list or would they get straight in (if they passed the relevant tests?)

At the moment, I think teacher's children have priority, but they are talking about changing this.

UnquietDad · 27/04/2007 15:54

Huh? Doesn't it very much depend on the school? Surely no school can guarantee a place for teachers' children.

And let's be honest, some teachers work at schools where they'd cut their arm off before they'd send their own kids there.

HonorMatopoeia · 27/04/2007 15:54

Our children get no preference at all here!

HonorMatopoeia · 27/04/2007 15:54

unquietDad- yes indeed, my arm would go before dd attended my place of work!

Honor is that right - so you could get a job at a school - (we are talking private) and then not benefit form the reduction in school fees that teachers get?

A friend had to put one of hers into a local state school and the other into the private school she worked at. Situation didn't stay that way for long though.

motheroftwoboys · 27/04/2007 18:06

I work at a independent school. DS1 goes here but DS2 did not get in and goes to another. Would love him to come here as get reduced fees but no priority and I don't think he is clever enough. Very competitive academic entry.

i guess if a private school yes?

but state - not in st albans - a mate of mine asked when she was applying for jobs and it is def not an application criteria on the school form - strictly special needs, sibs, distance
