Open Uni degrees, worth it?

Hi,

I am deciding to start an oU degree and want to know if those who have completed it have had jobs in their field?
I leave abroad and I have no opportunities here as in terms of part time job or part time courses. I am a mother hence don’t want to go back to work/study full time just yet as it isn’t the right time for our family.

TIA.

My friend did one but it was nothing to do with her Work. She loved it though. Currently a friend is doing a maths degree with them. Again is very happy about it. She won’t use it as she’s way over 60. Do it if you want to. I think there are compulsory summer schools though. You may need to check this out.

I did one but it was more out of interest/furthering a career I’d already got. It was great. Very well organised, very interesting and the reading content and materials were so much better than those of a ‘regular’ degree as they were mostly provided.

Some degrees and modules have compulsory summer schools but not all. I'm doing a bachelors in social psychology at the moment and it's hard work but immensely fulfilling. All of the feedback I've had from employers about OU degrees has been really positive too, most seem to respect that it takes a lot of hard work, discipline and dedication to finish it.

I found out this week that I have got my OU degree. I am now applying to be s teacher and have been doing school experience as well. A lot of my degree content has been helpful already.
