How much does an independent ed psych cost?

I know some of you have been through this; can you give me some sort of an idea of the likely cost?

We are being put in touch with an independent ed psych, who for various reasons seems to be an ideal person to give us some advice on ds1. There are some advantages in seeing an independent ep; cost not being one of them!

Any other advice gratefully received.

Thanks, Roisin

Cost me about £180, but that was about 4 years ago

Here is a link to the fees page of the ed psych we used. But those are central London/Harley Street fees, of course. I thought it was good of them to be so up front, though.

Recall someone else recently also being quoted around £300, not for Harley St.

When ks had a rant about them she mentioned that the most expensive one she got a quote from was £650. The thread is here .

We need a little gulping smiley.

think we paid £240

This is really helpful - thanks for those links binkie and tamum.

Did anyone see Shoebox Zoo this week? Thank you BBC - my ds1 now thinks an ed psych is literally the devil incarnate!

I still haven't worked out what we're planning to say to him by way of explanation before the assessment, but we DEFINITELY won't be introducing him as an "ed psych"!

We paid £180 just for an assessment and short report.

Roisin, quick message to say hope all goes well tomorrow - it is tomorrow, still, is that right? Do please let us know all about it!

all the best, xxx

Oh thanks for remembering Binkie - that's very sweet of you.

It went very well indeed; I'm feeling extremely positive. Worth every penny! DS1 really enjoyed himself - highlight of his week I think.

We're looking forward to reading the report and sharing it with his teachers.
