Latin - how can I do a crash course?

DD has started Latin and she's already asked me for help with homework. I had to google as have never done Latin in my life.

Does anyone know of a website I can learn some basics from please?

Which course is she doing? The Cambridge Latin Course has online activities to go with each stage of the textbooks.

She's only just started at senior school not sure they're following a specific course at this point (she's 11 so not GCSE). I will go and have a look at the Cambridge stuff - won't do me any harm to learn some Latin . Thanks for replying

There are also the Minimus books - I don't think they follow Cambridge Latin course, but are a good place to start...

Don't do Cambridge. It is all touchy freely. Get a proper systematic book so you can quickly get to hang of the basics. I suggest Oulton's Latin for common entrance One from galore park. Low on pretty pictures high on simple logical exposition. It is the CE year 6 syllabus so ideal.

I'd second Latin for common entrance as a crash course. It will cover a lot more than CLC in less time, with more practice exercises if you need them.

I would bet you anything it's the Cambridge Latin Course - it's pretty much the universal standard and just because it's called the Cambridge Latin Course doesn't mean it has anything to do with GCSE. I did it from age 11 (and so did my son, many, many years later).

You can get the books from Amazon and learn alongside her.

I learned with Ecce Romani. Ended up being a total geek and doing it to A Level (only because it was easy).

Sometimes the Open University have Latin on their free courses - the free part of the Website is called Open learn
