I think it's been like that for yonks, hasn't it. I remember someone from my primary school went because she was bright but from a one parent family and her mum couldn't afford normal fees.

My DC's school has a theatre

I saw a wonderful performance of Romeo and Juliette this week by the y6 children (my DD was in the choir)!

It is a modern glass block thing with lots of music teaching rooms and a large tiered theatre. They use it lots. Art rooms are in that building too.

Does anyone have any idea of how the means testing works? What income level equals what level of fees? I've always been curious about this school. Lots of writers went there and the social mix has been part of its ethos since it was founded.

Beetrootccio · 31/03/2007 19:08

Old socks sounds more like it - watch out for the canary yellow look

aol · 31/03/2007 19:18

Yeah, but I speak posh, so no one bats an eyelid.

Greenleeves · 31/03/2007 19:19

sliding scale of fees from zero to about £19.5k per year on a sliding scale. Only permit decuctions for mortgage rent of 12.5% of gross income - Wish oour mortage payments were on ly 12.5% of our gross income!!!!!!!!!!

NKffffffffee0f7f95X1118efd8f2d · 31/03/2007 20:21

Interesting, Cargirl. Thank you. I don't understand the bit about mortgage and gross income. Is £19.5k typical boarding school fees?

Judy1234 · 31/03/2007 20:34

Yes, typical boarding fees and typical day fees are about £10k a year.
