How much do you spend on teacher gifts/cards?

I have three children and these days since every class has at least one TA and I also have a disabled child who has two TAs I will need to spend at least £70 getting them all a decent gift. I wouldn't mind but I can't really afford this.

Is there any way to not spend this much but also not give something which looks like an insult or should I just spend it and forget about it? Teachers have a tiring job - I wouldn't want to appear ungrateful.

We're more than happy with just a thoughtful card, honestly Smile

As nice as a nice gift is, a thoughtful message is always appreciated.

I agree about the thoughtful message meaning the most. But in answer to your question - I personally spend about £4 / 5 per adult, often buying jewellery in the sales and storing it ready. If my budget was tighter, I would get a box of chocolates from the £1 shop for each person. I know both gifts would be equally appreciated, but that what I write in the card (29p from the card factory) is what means the most.

Could you organise a class collection to get vouchers to be split between all adults? That's what we do and it works brilliantly.
As s teacher myself I agree the most meaningful and appreciated gift is a letter or card about the impact on your child. I keep them all as they truly mean the world.

Right - the jewellery idea is good - I'll remember that! Or maybe also look on Amazon

We do class collections - £10 per family and that gets split 2 or 3 ways as needed. Much easier.

We spend a few pennies making up a hone made card for each teacher. I'm in a very wealthy area and there is no pressure to provide expensive gifts. Many gifts get given away anyway by teachers.
