Schools in Sharjah (UAE

DH has been offered a job in Sharjah and we're seriously contemplating a move there. Does anybody have any advice re: primary schools/ preschools there that follow a U.K. Curriculum? How much would we expect to pay? DD1 would be in Year 1 and DD2 (3) in nursery. Not finding a school we are happy with would be a deal breaker for me so grateful for any advice!

Also interested in hearing about experiences of moving a young family abroad for a couple of years - did you feel it benefited them at all?

Re schools in Sharjah...

Your best bet is to look at www.bsme.org.uk This is an association of British curriculum schools in the Middle East. Loosely speaking, if a school is a member, then it is ok. Better still, if it has had a recent BSOS (British Schools Overseas) inspection, then this means it has been assessed against UK education criteria.
Coming back to your specific question, Sharjah English School should be your first port of call. It is the longest established of the British curriculum schools with a very good reputation. Fees are not cheap, but your contract of employment should make some prevision for this.

Another vote for Sharjah English School. My friend has her children there, we live in Mirdif and it's an easy commute (they are on the school bus as both parents work). There are schools in Mirdif but the outstanding school (Sharjah doesn't come under the same regulations) is about AED 10,000 (approx £2,000) per child, per year more expensive. Our child is there and there are no noticeable differences in the progress of the children. We have our school fees paid, they don't which is why we are where we are, would move if we had to pay our own fees. Uniform there is cheaper as well.
