Hi all.
Well as some of you know i'm getting married in September.
We weren't planning a honeymoon but just discovered that the villa we went to last year is available for 2 weeks following the Wedding.
DD1 will be 6 by then and will have just started year 2. She will be at School 2 weeks when i'll be taking her out.
She is doing well at School and i'm going to ask for her work to do too as last year she did a diary as we like to keep her out of the Midday sun anyway.
I am a little worried about telling the School but thought it was generally a good idea.
Then my Mam sai that she thought it might be a bit much!!

Opinions?

No idea what school policies are on this type of thing.

A child can have 10 days away from school, at the discretion of the head - it's not an entitlement although most heads are pretty reasonable about it. September isn't a great time to take a child out of school, particularly if it's a new teacher or new classmates although it depends on your dd, if she generally is settled and happy at school I'm sure it will be fine. As for the work, talk to the teacher because she may not get any benefit from doing work whilst on holiday. For such a lovely occasion I'm sure you don't need to worry about telling the school though.

Just rang the Head master rather than dwelling on it for weeks.
He started by saying that it was afr from ideal (which i do agree with), but that DD1 is getting on well at School and has a good group of freinds she will mix back with. He is a nice man and said we have to look at the bigger picture for dd1's life and that he would grant me the 10 days leave.
I said i'd take work with me which he was pleased about and said they will have some stuff ready for the new term.
