Teachers - have any of you had alternative therapies?

Hi

I am researching the effects of some holistic therapies ie; reflexology, indian head massage and aromatherapy, in relation to the teaching profession and the related stress.

If anyone has had any experience of these therapies and how they helped (or didn't) I would be very grateful to know.

Many thanks X

You could get in touch with my school if you like, they have a bowen technique therapist on the staff (deputy head) and a reflexlogist (nursery nurse currently on maternity leave at the moment) we used to have a clinic for therapy but I think it has been abandoned but staff do approach them. I had some bowen to help with carpel tunnel syndrome connected to my pregnancy - I am also on mat leave.
Contact details are on the
school website

I have regular reflexology and acupuncture and I know that both my therapists treat many teachers.

The only study of anything 'alternative' that I am aware of is some workd done by a woman in wales who looked at the effect of playing music on behvaior and concentration in class in students in a secondary school

The found that playing mozart significanty reuced blood pressure, and increaed concentration. Tis worked even when the music was speeded up, slowed down or even played backwards!

Ok - I understand MB

Holistic in that case -

Reflexology
Aromatherapy
Indian Head Massahe
Hopi - Ear Candling etc etc

Stress relief is the key bit
