don't know if anyone can help or advise.I am sending this message as aparent of a 6 year old whose teacher is often away. This means that my daughter has frequently had 3 or 4 different teachers in one week. this has been going on since the beginning of the academic year.
As parents we have raised the issue with the head teacher who seems to think the situation is acceptable. we had an incident last week where one of the supply teachers called a child an idiot and the other children to talk to the hand. The head says the CT is away ill or helping plan the primary strategy.
My concern is the continuity in teaching..at this age it is so important for children to have the same teacher emotionally and for their learning.
I am a CT of a year 5 class at another school and do not really want to share this with my colleagues.
I recently called the school to ask if the CT was in that day..I was told by the head teaher ..if you don't like the school maybe you should find another one.
I feel as though we are just not being listened to.
Any advice about how to handle this would be much appreciated.
Thanks

crikey, this is difficult. I don't know anything about this but what are governors for? Is this a matter that they should be aware of?
How does dd feel about it?
Could dd move schools, go to your school?

sorry to have provided more questions than answers here.

I would complain, although it does depend whatyou mean by a lot. Raise it at your next school meeting. From a teachers point of view I wish more parents would complain when schools ahve to use supply as it only echoes the worries of the teachers in the school

If you are getting no wherewith your head go to the govereners and the education deptof your council.

I think that the school's attitude sounds apauling. My ds has a shared arrangement in his class becasue the main teacher is the deputy head and often doing other things, but there is continuity because it is a permanent arrangement with her CT job share. They also seem to have a pool of teachers that they use for supply, so its very likely that the children will know whoever is standing in (in fact I can't recall any time when they said they were being taught by someone we hadn't met in one capacity or another). At 6 I would have thought that it was vital. Your poor dd. To be honest I would seriously think about changing schools because that's not a good approach to take with a parent. Could you try and write a letter setting out your concerns maybe? That way you might get a more formal response.

Heads attitude stinks!
I would go to the governors if that's her attitude.
I do remember when dd was in reception they had an awful supply teacher. The parents complained and she was replaced and never used again. She was very shouty and scared the living daylights out of the children. My point is it was taken
seriously by the head as your complaint should be.She should have policys and procedures to follow if you complain inwritng, may get more done that way.

I have posted this on your other thread as well but... I would speak to one of the parent governors (sp?). Or the head of governors, if you write a letter to him/her they have to read it out at meeting (at which point in theory they have to deal with the issue).
And can I just say at the reply of the head .
