Tutoring- how much do you pay?

I know this varies from area and subject/level, but just wondering how much you pay and for what subject?

We pay £30 for a 1.5 hourly English (pre GCSE) session per week and £15 per hour for an online Latin class. DH thinks this is far too much, but I feel it is reasonable?

I charge £25 for an hour of maths. I'd put it up to £30 for A level, but haven't done any of that for ages.

It really does depend on where you are and the qualifications/experience of the tutor.

I charge £30ph in a commuter town in the SE for primary school/ 11+ tuition. My cousin charges £45ph for KS2 English and Maths in London.

A good way of checking out the cost in tour local area is to use a website that acts as an advertising portal for tutors. Something like First Tutors. It should be free to search and you should be able to filter your search according to age and subject. You could then collate some info and go from there and possibly tell your dh to start living in the real world

Finola my DH is from outside of UK and finds the concept of tutoring rather bizarre (" they go to school, why do they need this?!") Just checked out my local prices and we are getting our services for a song, so feeling very pleased about that!

£35 for an hour of maths Tuition. We had to get a tutor from another part of the area who charges travelling time.

I charge £40-£45 for primary tutoring per hour. I do live in affluent North London which probably makes a difference. I know people who charge £50 per hour.
