My little girl had a fight with her best friend yesterday, cut a long story short the other girl said something awful and my DD punched her.
Now my DD was dealt with by me and the girls were friends again by yesterday morning.
All done and dusted or so i thought, but the other mother has been in this morning to complain and i found myself in the heads office.

I basically said i couldn't believe the other mother was making such a big deal and would talk to DD about this but the other mother has been to our house and bitched about other mums to me so i know tonight i'll get the cold shoulder and they'll have their tongues wagging.
I even have Christmas presents wrapped and ready for the girl and her little brother which i now don't want to give because it looks like i'm trying to buy their affection after this incident.

How ridiculas does this sound written down.

Its a bit of an over reaction IMO. I think you should just treat her the way you always have and if she was to go OTT about it then let her.

Ignore them all if you get the tounges wagging and the cold shoulder, rise above their silly gossip and just remember that you are there for one thing only- to collect your dd. Do that and leave. After xmas there will be something else to talk about.

I'm sure it'll all blow over. I can understand the other mother talking to the school though. Can you not give her a ring or go round today and talk to her?

Just wait until Tuesday and see what happens, they will be the best of friends by then anyway.....I would then give the presents and totally ignore the Mum.

Oh dear. It does sound as if you need to communicate with the child's mother somehow. Perhaps this might have been a good idea at the time - this way the girl spoke to her mum first and perhaps didn't make it clear that all was well again. It's a shame that the other mother couldn't have spoken to you first rather than going in to school about it. Don't withhold the presents though - if you have a problem it's with the mother, not the child.

Good luck.
