11+ Tuition suggestions in SW London

Hi Mums and Dads,

I need some advise and suggestions. Am looking for a good tuition centre/tutor in South West London for my DD for her 11+ preparations. My DD would be starting Yr5 this Sept and I realised its time for her to start some serious preparations for 11+. She is in general a decent student but given what I have heard about the competition in 11+, I realised she needs some proper guidance.

Great thanks in advance

Google Emily-Jane Swanson. Excellent and might cover SW London now.

Bumping for you (am in same situation with dd starting yr5).

Emily-Jane Swanson looks marvellous, but £75 an hour?

Juliemilie · 26/08/2015 13:18

Thanks MN...Emily indeed looks very good with 100% success rate but at 75/hr it is on the expensive side.

Are there other options available. Heard about two recently - Oxbridge and Mrs Jones tuition. Does anyone have any reviews or experience with them

Thx again

If you are thinking of tutoring for months or a year then that wouldn't even be half a term's fees of some London schools. I agree the rates are higher than others, but she is truly excellent.

(sorry to be a bit boasts here, proud parent alert)..... We did 10 hours with Swanson, but our son was already on track for level 6s at the end of primary school so it was all about exam technique and polish for extra points. (He did get straight level 6s at SATs in the end, one of a few boys in England).

Sorry but £75 is ridiculous particularly if a child is already online for level 6s.

The point was that we only needed a few sessions (10) and spent considerably less compared to many that seem to do at least 6 months or a year. He sat 2 exams for highly competitive entry and got 2 offers.

There are lots of tutors available at a wide range of rates and I'm sure that the price doesn't dictate quality. There is no reason why some students charging £20 per hour couldn't be really good. However, I have direct experience of Emily-Jane and she gets my top recommendation.

If you have a tutor that you can vouch for too then perhaps that would be useful to the OP? Saying the rate is expensive is repeating what the OP (and I) have already said.
