Have you bought school shoes yet?

In the past I always buy everything else really early and leave the school shoes until right before they go back, mainly because if their feet suddenly grown they will not get much wear out of them. But leaving it usually means there is very little choice.

So do you leave it or buy quite early?

Just bought his football boots ... size 10 .. age 11 ... !

Leaving the school shoes and gym shoes until last moment.

Just posting in great relief - DS measured as a 10 in school shoes, and the 1 pair of 10E they had available in the shoe shop were the style he has always had. Sorted for [fingers crossed] another year.

However, he needs size 11 trainers and football boots... and although we did manage to get the football boots at least, we were warned by the sales assistant that they get 12s only rarely, and nothing larger ever.

So NEXT summer's shoe shopping might be lengthy and frustrating!

Lucky you!! I've told ds his feet aren't allowed to get any larger as he already needs 13 in trainers (but I'm not sure his feet understand...)

I did the school shoe shopping trip last weekend. Three kids, 6 pairs of shoes, very little change from £250.

Poor DS3. After trying on shoes all morning, the only pair that fit well and are comfortable have flashing soles. Luckily you can switch off the lights, as I don't think they are really the 'in' thing in Year 7. Grin

2 pairs today.

Dd2 was great - easy standard size, liked the first pair she tried on which also fitted her well. Job done. Dd1 has awkward feet and is yr8 so style really matters. She tried on 6 pairs and no joy till we found a ladies pair in Clarks which we all liked at £5 more than the school shoe prices.

£95 for 2 pairs. Gulp.

Ds1 (age 7) has gone from a size 1 in April to a size 3 last month Shock . He's clearly had a growth spurt as he's also shot up about 3 inches in the same time.

I'll be getting his on the 31st August just in case!

Bought today from a local independent retailer, Alna Vi, great service, real leather and good price. Have had bad experiences with the Clarks iPad fitting device and can't be bothered with the phaff it causes. It is always out on length and width. Recent pairs from Clarks have also not stood the test of time. One style that was popular in DD's school had a metal grip on middle of the bow. Half the girls in her class who had these shoes all had one or more of the grips missing.
