Any thoughts from those on the inside what this means?

Thanks

I've said it before, I'll say it again... Old Palace is a lovely school and my DD has done really well there. Yes, there is still an effect from the merger but the teaching is generally of a very high standard, and, what's most important is that there is a nice supportive atmosphere and good pastoral care.

Didn't mean to suggest otherwise Asterisk! My comment re league tables meant that it would be a shame that parents would overlook it purely because they simply looked at overall A*/A measures rather than taking into account the different academic potential of each yeargroup (prior to the merger its academic results put it ahead of W & T IIRC). I saw the merger as a long term decision to ensure OP could grow, and would be surprised if the Foundation distracted from this by forcing T to go fully co-ed.

New Head Alisdair Kennedy announced today for Trinity school for next September. Any thoughts anyone?

DroopyTulips · 27/11/2015 17:08

Can any Dulwich College parents let everyone know what he is like?

Found the announcement on the school's website:

Wow, he's young!

Seeline · 30/11/2015 09:13

That was my first thought too Ladymuck!!
Anyone got any views?

Just to update the other comments on the thread, the Head at CHS is moving on in July, so awaiting news on a new Head there too.......

Ladymuck · 30/11/2015 10:50

Actually I had a quick check - he isn't as young as I first thought, but still fairly young - probably on a par with where Julian Thomas was when he went to Caterham. But there are plenty of DC parents on here who must have a view?

CHS isn't a surprise - she was saying that she wanted to head back up north for some time. I understand that there might be an internal candidate. Do you know how year 7 numbers were this year?

Seeline · 30/11/2015 11:27

Ladymuck interesting about a possible internal candidate - I wonder who?
I think there are about 66 in Y7 this year - in 3 forms.
Apparently they were expecting about 200 sitting the entrance exams on Saturday - don't know how many of them were internal. I think some sit for the chance of scholarships.

We've been rumbled... Hello Mr Bishop! (waves!)

This from the Head's newsletter at Trinity.

'Now that an excellent new Head has been appointed, I thought it might be useful to address some of the rumours that have been swirling around either on Mumsnet or elsewhere about my departure! So far, I have heard that ‘Mr Bishop is terminally ill’, which, if true, would be a complete surprise both to me and my GP. I have also heard that ‘he had to resign from Trinity, so that in a year’s time, he could become Head of Whitgift.’. Although Whitgift is, without question, an outstanding school, there is more chance of me becoming the principal dancer in the Royal Ballet than Head of Whitgift. Whilst the most common rumour I have heard is that ‘he had to resign because he fell out with the Governors as the Whitgift Foundation want Trinity to become a fully co-educational school’. I can honestly say that in 10 years I have never had a single disagreement with our Governors who have always been incredibly supportive and I can categorially assert that there are no plans for Trinity to become fully co-educational.

The reality is that whilst working at Trinity has been the biggest privilege and pleasure in my entire career, I had come to realise that it was beginning to have an impact on my health and on my family. The decision to leave was incredibly hard and made much harder by knowing that I had publically stated that I had intended to stay at Trinity for several more years. I do, of course, deeply regret the uncertainty this has caused parents over the last few months but I am so delighted that with Mr Kennedy’s appointment there can be real confidence in the future direction of the school.

Seeline · 06/12/2015 10:04

You're a braver woman than I am asterisk They probably know exactly who we are by what we've said about our DSs!

{hides behind sofa waving} Hello Mr B Blush

Ladymuck · 07/12/2015 08:57

In fairness some schools would happily pay for the level of positive coverage that Trinity has on MumsnetGrin

I am happy that he cleared it up though - it didn't feel in character previously.
