We have had a few trials of this site and my children enjoyed it, I'm just wondering though if the games and questions actually change, or are you stuck with the same games for the entire subscription. Thanks .

I subscribed over the summer because the boys enjoyed the games, and they do keep updating them. Sometimes there are new variants of old ones and sometimes there are completely new games. They haven't played for ages now they're back at school though, so I am wondering whether I wasted my money.

Singersgirl, I did a search using google and noticed that some schools have obtained a discount code from EducationCity to encourage parents to subscribe. The secondary school my daughter is interested in, uses the website to help with lessons and I thought it would be a fun way to learn. Thanks for your comments too .

We've subscribed and find it really good. My children enjoy using it and I can see what and how they are doing. However, they are home-educated and it is part of what they are set to do. They think it's fun and don't realise sometimes that they are doing it to learn. However, another child of mine is still at school and although she will dabble a bit she soon loses interest in it. I don't know whether it's because she's already done enough at school which is fair enough to me.

Hi Juuule, I'm thinking about subscribing to help my son (who I think may be dyslexic), he enjoys using the computer and I thought some visual aid might help him with his school work. Do you know of any discound codes to enter please?

BewitchingBrowny · 11/10/2006 23:28

hi ACD, so how does that work, does your ds have a code from his school that he uses to access it from home?

i use ed city at work - its fine for reinforcing ideas with lge groups of children when newtorked for a class but i think it would be deathly dull for any reasonably bright child at home as most of games/formats are so similar- graphics are of adequate quality etc.

there are some v.good interactive ed software alternatives. checkout amazon for 'cluefinders' CDRoms to Y6, i'd strongly recommend BBC bitesize revision for Y7 onwards

We had a trial when we were travelling and Iwas teaching kids at home but they didn't really like it. Not very creative I don't think. Mind you, they got bored with all the trials we did. That's the limitation of technology.

Dodgy syntax due to uncharacteristic midweek wine.

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 12/10/2006 00:22

yes that's exactly how it works! he has a code he types in and it pops up with his name and class! we can check what he's up to and his teacher cn also access what he's been doing at home and see what his scores were etc.
