Harvest Festival offerings

DD has a Harvest Festival assembly on Friday 20th, and she has to take an offering in. there is then a Harvest Festival sale after school that evening.

So, as new to all this, what type of thing or we taling about?

Was thinking of ordering an extra fruit pack from the veg box I use (£5 for a selection of 5 fruits such as bananas, grapes, plus, apples, pears). These put into a box with some shredded paper and cling film over top - will it be about right?

Our school collects for local hostels and refuges, so we're asked to bring in tinned/packet goods during the week and tomorrow (Harvest Festival), perishables.

Your suggestion sounds lovely and tbh, may make it seem a bit more special for the recipients than the hundreds of tins of toms that most schools receive!

That sounds perfect.

As far as I know the offerings will go to the sale, and then the proceeds of the sale goes to charity.

Our primary collect pasta, rice tins etc. and then donate them to the Salvation Army.

Our school collects offerings - half usually goes to Salvation Army, half to a local old people's home.

Usually the gifts are split between various tins and packets (we are asked to try to find something other than beans this year!), and people who have done exactly what hulababy suggests and made up boxes or baskets of fresh and/or tinned produce. Some people pop a small pot plant in the 'hamper' and that always looks nice.

My school/my kids school both collect various food stuff and make it into hampers, some people (me included ) make up a small /shoe box with fruit & veg.the hampers then go to the local elderly.
I put in grapes/toms/onions/potatoes/apples/banana/sprouts.

I got the stuff for dd's at the corner shop by work. They gave me a plastic mushroom bos and I put in it a few carrotts, couple of apples, couple of satsumas, bananas, little pack of shortbread biscuits, 2 home-made style scones and a tin of salmon (last item lurking in back of cupboard.

Stuff taken in by other people ranged from expensive pre-made up fruit baskets with lots of ribbon to a carrier bag full of tins.

DD's school doesn't collect stuff, but take donations for CAFOD. There is a tree in the Hall, and each child decorates a leaf writes their name and a message and hangs it on the tree. All the monies and messages are then sent to CAFOD.

Have ordered an extra fruit bag to come next week. Must try and find a suitable box now.
