Does anyone have any knowledge of 3 comprehensives in the eastern New Foest; specifically, Applemore, Noadswood and Hardley?
Friends are currently looking to move and they'd welcome any comments.

I know of them and have been to them but I don't know enough about them to make a proper comment. I have a friend who works at Hardley and she seems very happy there compared to her last 2 schools!
On league tables it looks like Applemore isn't doing so well and I think I've read something recently in local paper that it's not as good as the others.

Ringwood School is excellent if that's any use.

I have a friend who worked at Noadswood and thought it was a great school, wished she could move her children there. Applemore, I have also heard is not doing very well, but have a look and see for themselves. I live in Southampton so don't have much knowledge of anything outside of area. Good luck to your friend.

Hello Tommy, where do your children go to school?

Tommy · 29/09/2006 13:20

Small world! My youngest is at Foundry Lane and older one at Regents Park.

oooh! We're nearly neighbours

So do you think the changes to secondary education in Southampton will affect your little one or are you going to be able to afford private? I just wish they would get on and let us know the outcome..

brimfull · 30/09/2006 16:15

what changes are they making ?

Tommy · 30/09/2006 17:27

At the moment the plan is for the DSs to go to St George's but that seems to be going down the pan as well at the moment. I have high hopes that they will make a new Co-ed Catholic school in the city so they can go there.
If not, we will check out this possible new school amalgam of Regents Park/Bellemore and if not, we will win the lottery and they will go to King Ed's!

ggril - they are closing and merging several schools as they have a surfeit (sp?) of places. They also are thinking of getting rid of single sex schools but that it a bit controversial - especially for parents of girls.
