Where do I look for a Piano teacher?

I want an experienced Piano teacher for my 2 boys to come to my home in NW London but I don't see any teachers advertising. Can anyone advise me where they advertise or where to look? Thanks.

I found our teacher through an agency called the London Music Centre, if you talk to Elliott Mann there and give him 2 or 3 times in the week that would work for you he will find you a teacher. Ours is great, £25 per half hour and she comes to the house. You only need to give 24 hours notice if you want to cancel a lesson.

Ps we are in NW London too

Try The Tutor Pages - you can search for a tutor in anything in your area.

I would always ask around as much as I could and try and get a personal recommendation to be honest. Also I know you want them to come to you but I think you pay more for that and if you can consider going to them I think you will have a better choice (though Greenfizzywater has obviously found someone who will travel!). I don't know London rates but £25 for half an hour seems quite high to me but I imagine going via an agency and having them come to you adds to the price.

I found mine by asking around.

London prices, £25 for half an hour is standard if they come to you (makes a huge difference to me as I have a toddler too) - but to be honest I found plenty of piano teachers charging £20-30 per half hour where we would have had to go to them, so that seems to be the going rate.

Thanks GFW - £25 sounds fine to me, 4 kids - too much hassle to travel. I'll get on to that tomorrow. Thanks x

Yes it's bliss to be able to bath the toddler or whatever rather than hanging around for half an hour in someone else's house.

You could ask the music teacher at your child's school for a recommendation, ask other parents, or if there is a piano shop near you, they may well have a list of names of local teachers.
