I thought there was a thread on this but I may have imagined it. Just wanted to say I am very pleased to see University of East Anglian made it into the top 200 worldwide! It's an ex poly isn't it?

Never was a poly. Just a new university in the 60s.

No UEA has always been a university - it's what was known as a red brick. Anglia Ruskin university used to be a poly though.

UEA was not "red brick" as those universities were older - founded late 19th/early 20th century - e.g. Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham (and there were also "minor red brick" universities such as Leicester, Hull and Exeter). UEA was one of the new universities of the 1960s like Sussex, Lancaster, York, Bath. It isn't an ex-poly. The 1960s universities were sometimes described as Plate Glass to distinguish them from the longer established red bricks!

I didn't realise it wasn't an ex poly, must have mixed it up with Anglia Ruskin. I think it's done really well In terms of ranking. America seems to be dominate most of the top positions. Here's the link if anyone's interested:
