16 year old dd has just come back from enrolling for six form, she has chosen double IT, biology and law for A level.

These are her favourite subjects but my feelings are they sound random rather than well thought through.

what would her options be after getting her grades?

There is nothing wrong with law A level. I often see people commenting that it's a poor choice but I don't see how it is weaker than any other analytical and essay based A level e.g. History, politics, philosophy, sociology...

However I agree they do sound a bit of a random bunch and it would be a good idea for your DD to think about what she might like to study at university and check the entry requirements. I would be concerned that if she wants to go down the science route a lot of courses might require maths, and biology on its own might not be much good.

There is nothing wrong with Law A level.

Here is the infamous Trinity College list. Law is on List B, so not too shabby. ICT is on List C which are "subjects suitable only as a fourth subject [as far as Cambridge is concerned]". Computing, however, is on List B.

Only one of those is a proper A level (biology) , a facilitating subject so if she is not too bright they may be good choices for her. If she is bright and eg wants to do law then avoid law A level like the plague and do subjects like a language, English, history ,geography or another science.
