Mu ds1 has just started year 1 and has brought home some oxford reading tree book stage 7. He can read them with ease and I just wondered what age these books were aimed at as we haven't used them before.

there is a website, if you type Oxford reading tree into Google there is a table with the levels and average ages. I think stage 7 is perhaps average for a 6.5 year old? not totally sure.

Thanks Fennel. I notice there is another thread talking roughly about this.

If you want an estimate of your ds reading age have a look at the tests on this website (scroll down to the bottom) www.syntheticphonics.com

They are very easy for you to do. If he is finidng the books easy you may want to approach the teacher to get them changed, and the reading age would help.

This is a pretty old thread. Wht advice/help are you wanting?

The Burt test (from Syntheticphonics) only assesses the child's skill at decoding or reading words. It doesn't test their comprehension. The Burt test will give you an idea of a decoding age rather than what they can read and understand.
