St Edwards is fantastic (first and middle), although I think unless you are Catholic you have to live almost next door to get in. Clewer is nice though so definitely worth considering.

Lots of families on the Laing estate in Dedworth, you often see lots of children playing outside together in the evenings.

Have you phoned round to see which schools have places?

House has to come first before you can apply to schools, however, that doesn't stop you ringing round to enquire whether they have places.

TBH I would just set aside some time to ring EVERY school and see which has the places you need. This will narrow your house search area.

I think that Windsor is still a 3 tier system, so there are First Schools (Reception to Year 4), Middle Schools (Year 5 to Year 8) and High Schools (Year 9 to 6th Form).

This means that your dc will only be at the same school for 1 year before your older one moves to middle school.

On the other hand, I might be completely wrong!

Homer first is a fab primary on the Laing estate.

Windsor do still have the three tier system. Trevelyan is an excellent middle school and the Boys school is probably the best senior school. The Girls school used to be pretty grim but is much better now (or so I've heard).

I'd definitely ring Homer too, (don't be put off by the word 'estate'. Laing estate just refers to the company who built all the houses round there in the 60s).

I really doubt st Edwards have spaces, waiting list is usually as long as my arm sorry.

Oakfield school is lovely, some of the outer villages which also come under the windsor system also have lovely schools, Kings Court in Old Windsor, Eton Porny in Eton and Eton Wick C OF E in Eton Wick are worth looking at.

SorrelForbes · 29/06/2014 21:44

Oh yes, forgot about Oakfield.
