Ofsted backlogs???

Has anyone heard anything about there being a large backlogs of complaints at Ofsted?

I wrote to them regarding some serious concerns at the start of the year and received a response stating that these had been passed onto the compliance and investigation team and that I would receive a response in 30 working days. When I didn't hear from them I called and was told that someone would look into it and get back to me. I heard nothing so called again to be told that a supervisor was definitely calling me by x date. I still haven't had any response. One person I spoke to was quite stroppy and asked what my concerns were about. I gave some brief information only to be told that it's not something Ofsted would deal with. Their own guidance however says that it is something that they will take seriously if they become aware of it Confused

I recently called again to ask why I was not getting any response despite repeated assurances and have now been told that this has been escalated and that someone will definitely get back to me Hmm. I was told that there is a backlog because it is near the end of the school year however my concerns were raised in January! I appreciate that if a case is ongoing then they can't discuss it but it appears that no-one has looked into it all yet. Is this usual for Ofsted?

A setting I know of had complaint and the team were there to inspect in just over a fortnight.

Not sure what that adds to case, but it does prove they can act quickly if it is within their remit.

it probably depends on how many complaints they get about any one institution and from what range of stakeholders

one parent = low urgency
twenty parents = medium urgency
ten parents, three teachers and a social worker = high urgency
