It sounds like the nursery are on the ball- the kids will have great fun with that topic, I'd have thought. Congrats for bringing it to their attention, Batters. It can be a difficult thing to talk about and it sounds like you did a great job (as my American friends say to their kids!).

Good for you Batters, and your nursery, and thanks to ScummyMummy for the book recommendations. I am so pleased it worked out well but still feel a little bit sad for the girl who triggered all of this.

Just a point about the child who smells, has anyone thought this is something out of either parents or childs control? I only say this because my son who is 13 months old is being tested for various conditions as he smells all the time! Sounds funny I know but there are medical reasons, concerning amino acids and other technical things (!) why this can be the case. You can tell what my ds has eaten the day before because it sweats out of him and also comes out in his nappy. Fish and vinegar are just a couple of the things that do it. It isn't a case of just avoiding the foods, though that helps a bit, because it is a chemical imbalance. Anyway, just thought it might be something to be aware of.

Hi everyone, I'm back! Moved house and only got intermittent internet access at the moment.

Anyway, just to add my experience to the 'smelly' discussion, the children I remember from primary school as being called that mainly had greasy hair - one had blackheads as well - and a third came from a home with incontinent dogs!
