Can anyone recommend a good boarding school for a 12 year old girl?
We are planning on dd attending boarding school at the end of yr 6 beginning yr 7.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

If your DD is 12yrs old and you want co-ed boarding in Suffolk your best choices are Framingham and Culford as she won’t then have to move at 13. Fram is generally considered the ‘better’ school these days and very County set there. Culford is very sporty with great sport facilities. Opposite ends of the county of Suffolk but if you are boarding then probably won’t matter. Friends with DCs at both. Prep schools to recommend would be OBH and Orwell Park.

Royal Hospital School is also worth a look; fab site and facilities and a great ethos. It's about half and half boarding / day, and they take from a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. More able are well catered for, and excellent music and sport - all in all a fabulous place!

A resounding vote for the Royal Hospital School from me. It's an amazing place and offers such a huge range of activities that everyone can try everything and all children can shine in something. Academically, it's not a hothouse by any stretch, but it sends some to oxbridge each year and certainly holds its own. The alumnae family is extremely active and very much like a family. It's extraordinary actually.

I meant to say the alumnae society rather than family twice!
