KGS reserve for boys

Hi everyone, DS has a reserve place at KGS, in the meantime we have to accept another place. I know, old story. But does anyone have any experience with KGS in that matter? What is the reserve list policy?

That is exactly what I was curious to know. We have already had to accept another offer and pay the deposit, but our heart still is with KGS. Do you know when the KGS deadline is? Is it today or tomorrow?

Shooting4themoon · 04/03/2014 13:34

I know of 6 girls who have accepted offers elsewhere but not 1 boy who's turned down a place. However saying that only a couple of boys from our school took the 11+ for KGS as our boys tend to do CE in Y8.

Deadline is tomorrow (5th) at noon.

"I know of 6 girls who have accepted offers elsewhere but not 1 boy who's turned down a place."

Well girls have a number of alternatives, there are none locally for a boy. It's not going to help the gender imbalance at KGS.

13+ at KGS is becoming irrelevant with only 5-10 places up for grabs in 2015, and no pre-test or CE so entry by first past the post in school exams in November before entry.

Oops, meant to say there are none locally for a boy that has not secured a place at Hampton (or one of the tiny number at 11+ at KCS).

CountessDracula · 04/03/2014 17:32

I have just heard one boy at our school has turned it down - hope that helps you!

Padres67, we had to do the same. I'm sure the next days will bring an end to this waiting game!

Lulu399, if you get offered KGS, will you just forfeit the deposit and take KGS or will you stick with your first choice. My daughter now has her heart set on the selected school now we have paid the deposit for and doesn't want KGS, although my husband and I do. Do you accept two places and play it by ear and hope they change their mind. That seems unfair on others to hold two places. Also, I need to find out that if you pay the deposit, are you commited to the first terms fees.

lulu399 · 04/03/2014 19:34

Padres67, DS is still keen on KGS. It's tricky and at the moment I have no idea what to do - I like our current choice just as much. You need to study your contract. In our case it's just the deposit for the next few weeks, after that it's a terms fee.

Shooting4themoon · 05/03/2014 16:52

Padres67 I believe that they called just after midday... I've got my fingers crossed for everyone on the waiting lists x

lulu399 · 05/03/2014 20:38
