Hi, my daughter is currently undertaking a Masters Degree in business.
In order to complete her thesis she needs certain questionnaires completed about communications within a company setting. She has approached several large companies but they are not interested. As she has to have her thesis completed for mid October she is running out of time and getting quite stressed a desperate. Does anyone have any suggestions on businesses she might approach for help? I really am quite desperate :( :(

Where are u in the country and what sort of businesses? Must they be large?

Why are you doing it for her masters? Sorry but if she is not successful I'd suggest she is either not approaching the right person in the businesses or isn't investing her time in relevant research . Charities may be more cooperative than multinationals but realistically she may need tor reconsider what she is asking of them and how to collect the data.

Hi Black Mogul thank you for taking time to reply. I am in N.Ireland company needs to employ 25 people and upwards .

LIZS thank you also. I am no doing her masters. I am merely trying to support her as best I can as I suspect most mothers would do. I thank you for your suggestion on charities and I will advise her accordingly. :)

Agree with the suggestion of a charity especially if the findings will be shared with those taking part. I work in a charitable hospice and we are always open to anything which will help us. we have processes like everyone else so it can take time to get clearance. usually there will be a lead for clinical quality so try contacting them or try HR. Good luck.

She should ask her dissertation supervisor

Maverick66 · 30/08/2013 21:46

Hi jewelled kaleidoscope thank you for your suggestion she is working closely with her dissertation supervisor but he appears to be a bit OCD and keeps moving the goal posts and his dithering is what has delayed her progress.
Onemoredayplease thank you for your input you have been very helpful

Thank you all :)

Another tip would be to look on LinkedIn. If her uni has an alumni group then she should join it and contact people from companies that way. People are normally more receptive if you are coming from the same uni as them.

Suggest she speaks to the nearest local chamber of commerce for contacts.

Most unis have a dept specialising in knowledge transfer to industry ie have industry contacts - has she explored this within her own uni?
