Think it might be sort of making the punishment fit the crime. So, if a kid has put graffiti on a wall he will be asked to clean it off. Willing to be corrected.

I would imagine it is towards discipline where after an significant incident in the classroom, one which has resulted in the pupil being sent out/on-called, the teacher, the pupil and a third party sit down to discuss the issue. The same techniques is used when pupils have arguments/ problems in friendship groups etc. Restorative Justice is said by it's supporters to work well but has to be very carefully managed.

never heard of them before this minute, but I would imagine that it would be a school where discipline was dealt with under principles of restorative justice?

Yes related to Restorative Justice, whereby the perpetrator understands the impact their crime has had on others and 'makes good'. At the most simple level this could be a 5yo saying sorry for getting angry and pushing someone, because, after the event they are helped to see that being pushed made the other child feel affronted or sad.

This is ok in instances where a child has enough social cognition to understand and enough empathy to care.

I have seen it used very inappropriately where the avove conditions did not apply.
