Charity Status for PTA

Is anyone out there involved in their PTA? If so do you know if they are a registered charity? I know the in’s and out (if you raise over £1000 a year you have to be registered) and I have the forms to fill in – I’m trying to find out what to put on them!
We’re not members of NCPTA – so we can’t utilise their services – just wondered in anyone had any experience of this that they would be willing to share. Thanks

Have you tried the NCPTA? I know you're not a member, but they may still give advice.

Alternatively, contact the Charities Commission.

We registered last year, but used the NCPTA stuff. Can't remember details, sorry, but I did have to ring the Charities Commission about something (the name I think) and they were very helpful.

What questions have you got? I am involved & was Treasurer one year.

Berries - I have dowloaded the forms and now see we need a constitution. Rather than trying to write soemthing from scratch, I'm trying to see if there's anyone out there who has successfully registered as a charity and can offer words of wisdom. I would imagine that most (Primary) school pta's have very similar constitutions.
I'm really trying to do a lot of homework before going back to the next PTA meeting. I don't seem to be getting a lot of help from other members! It's a group who quite happily all "muck in" when needed - but there are no clear lines of responsibility, or a remit of what our work should include! We do raise on average £3k - £5k a year. Thanks for your help
