Anybody out there know how many boarding places went to non military this year? I would love my kids to go to this school as it looks amazing, however we live outside catchment. My husband and I are airline staff and I am hoping this would help on a need to board basis!

My daughter got in to Gordon's as a weekly boarder on a "need to board basis", we were told initially that she had not been successful so we asked to be put on the waiting list. Military families and full boarding applications were offered places first. We got in after a month or so of waiting. It was worth it she is very happy there. The admissions policies are on the school website at: www.gordons.surrey.sch.uk/admissions and there is an open morning this Thursday!

PatPig....you're right, ordinary results. So 14 percent didn't get A star to C in five subjects inc Maths and English. That is terrible! Getting a C in maths/English is really not aiming too high. Friends son was very very happy there but there was no warning from the school that he was in danger of not making the grade.

Went to Gordon's last Thursday v impressed have applied for a boarding place but not holding out much hope as they only have 32 places 16 boys 16 girls im not military so don't think we stand a cats chance but you've got to give it a go. Was impressed that the day pupils can stay on site til 7.30pm each evening and would be more than happy to cough up the £2k but you literally have to live in the playground to get a day place .

But arnt a certain % of children SEN so surely the results will be affected.

What is the 'school in Camberley that no one wants to go to'?

PatPig · 28/10/2013 14:30

I don't think they have any special SEN priority.

"Percentage of pupils with SEN statement or on School Action Plus 5.2%"

National average is 11%.

Also more relevant is the number of pupils entering below Level 4 on Y6 SATs. The % is ridiculously low - only 3%.
