Parents Evening: I was so proud...

Ds's (yr7) parents evening - as we went round we were repeatedly hearing such phrases as: 'delight to teach', 'courteous and cheerful', 'good sense of humour' and quite a few expressed hope he'd continue to A level in their subject. Amazingly we didn't get a single negative comment.

After checking I did indeed have the right label on and they weren't talking about someone elses child, I came home basking in reflected glory.

Thought I'd share as no-one in real life would be interested. It did cross my mind that perhaps as it's a private school the teachers were under orders to only say nice things? Please tell me this isn't true and that, unlikely as it seems, ds is in fact an angel at school.

Grin .. that's nice

As an ex-teacher, albeit not in private ed, I found that parent's evenings were the place when I was more likely to tell more of the truth, without the "positice phrases only" rule being imposed like they often are in reports. So, if your DS's teachers are all saying he is a delight, he most likely is! Feel justly proud :)

Thanks hulababy - I am proud!

I'm glad he saves all his grouchy moments for me at home - well, mostly glad!

DEFFO BRILL

WELL DONE YOUR DS

SmileSmile

DH teaches in private school and have just asked him and IHHO it would be true

There is no point in not telling the truth

I'm really chuffed that by all accounts he seems to be genuinely enjoying school. He's never said he doesn't - but then he doesn't really say much about it very often.

How go the SATs RTKM?

How lovely snorkle Smile

Just this evening I was ruminating on how little positive feedback parents get about children, most of the time it's a struggle 'socialising' them and not getting tuts and stares if they throw a bit of a wobbly in public, then (like me at the mo) there's the odd comment from pre-school teachers about "He was the only child who wouldn't do this or that today" accompanied by a look....

Yet my DS loves life, loves pre-school, home, everything and he's the light of my life!

It is nice to hear that the positive comments will (hopefully!) come along too!!!

Well done to your DS and you!
