Actualy MTS i heard that too...I actually left the UK on ex pat terms as I hit the glass celing in the UK.

Funny thing is I am now my ex boss bosses boss..

I think this also brings it down to wether you are willing to move for a better life.

I agree 2nd generation usually start to parallel their white british counterpart. They don't have the impetus to work their way out of poverty as their parents have already done the hard work.

Not sure why op asking but as I live locally I have an opinion! I think both are more mixed than you might think. Both bus children in from wide area (if that is relevant?!). Also perhaps some communities willing to pay for excellent education?

Sure they bus in kids from Harpenden, Sandridge, Welwyn & Co but those catchments are hardly anymore ethnically diverse than St Albans itself.

If you look at bus list it's more Luton and north London - harpenden etc have good schools so not as much need. I think figs are less than half come from local area

DD went to the High School, the girls were mostly white with a few Asian/British girls. The boys school has more of a mix.

Boys school has a lot of lads from north London, an average of 4/5 boys per class are of Asian, African, Indian or Greek / Cypriot descent. As someone up thread said, the local state schools (especially in Harpenden) are very good so parents pay £££ for their houses and get them into those instead.
