My dd is in Year 4 and has always been bright. She has a new treacher now however and seems to have slipped a bit. She has been moved ot the lower group for spellings and suddenly her reading books seem to have dropped to what look like really easy books. Unfortunately I can't compare what levels they are as they are Ginn and we have never used this syustem. She is on level D 5-14. Could someone please tell me if this is average for Year 4 or if their child is on Ginn boooks what the levels correlate to. I am particularlay worried as my ds who has traditionally been a slow learner educationally ( despite being very birght) sems to be getting the same type of books as dd although he is in Year 2 - 2 years below.

Thanks.

ds - Yr3 - currently has Ginn nC 3B/ 5-14 level C. There is a chart \link{http://www.heinemann.co.uk/shared/Resources/NonSecure/00000000/B427%20Pocket%20CompChart.pdf\here} which seems to show suggested Years for each book in the range.

Thanks LIZS but th elevel on the back of her book says level D rather than 1 or 2 or any nujmber as on these charts - par t of the reason I'm so puzzled.

I had to look for the actual book cover to correlate it ! Not sure how/if the numbering/lettering relates but the example I gave earlier shows up as Year 4 on the first link.

DS (7) who is in year 3 and considered to be in the top group in his class has recently finished Level 10 according to this chart.
