Online MSc. How did you choose the course and university?

Has anyone done a distance learning MSc course? Does it matter if the university running it is overseas? Are there any good websites which list them? I imagine the better universities cost more... But are maybe worth it in terms of employment prospects? I haven't been to uni since 1997 and feel a bit out of touch! Everything seems to happen online now.
Thanks for any pointers.

I did an MSc with the Open University, which I thought was great, but it's quite general. Is there a particular career you want the MSc to be oriented towards?

I did an MSc online with the University of the Highlands and Islands. It was the only place offering the course which I found with a lot if googling.

Oh, and I would recommend UHI. They are a 'dispersed' uni with campuses all over scotland connected by technology even for those who go in physically so I didn't feel second-best as a distance student.

There are so many free courses available now from good US universities. Forgotten link, but have a google. Obv wdnt get masters this way but cd complete a semester module. Think Harvard, MIT involved...
Uni of liverpool and uni of london offer online courses as do several others

dh has just done a msc with Uni of Liverpool

It's not been an entirely happy experience ...

Each module was run by a different tutor with a different 'tutorial group' and a lot of the assessment was done via an online discussion forum. Dh found that quite frustrating as on some of the modules some of the other students could barely write in English which made meaningful discussion tricky. It was a lot of work and he had to be very disciplined to fit it in on top of a pressured full-time job. However he now has a masters so in that repect it did the job
