Just thought id share this with you.

One of my main worries with DS being out of school for 5 months is that he will "fall behind" his peers as i havent been sticking to the curriculum and he doesnt sit and learn/write things down, he asks lots of questions and researches things on the net.

Anyway....his home tutor has been coming for the last couple of weeks and i asked her yesterday how is his work level compared to other kids his age.
She said , he is doing brill, the work that we have been doing with him has paid off and she has no problems whatsoever with any of his work.

When i attended his last parents evening just before he came out of school he was struggling in maths, but not any more.

it just shows that home ed does work. Smile

I don't home ed, but I'm fascinated when I hear about it Smile. When you say you use a home ed tutor, how did you find him/her, and how do you home ed a secondary school age child, with so many different subjects to cover on the curriculum?

The tutor has come from the LEA as DS is classed as medically unfit for school.

We got him a private tutor before this though through an agency.

My friend home ed,s her 2 teenage sons, they just buy the books and follow the national curriculum, her eldest is sitting his GCSE Maths and English which they have to pay for but he is doing it a year early.
