As it is half term and the weather is so delightful....
take the couple of minutes to do this for your children's school(s)
as the more of us who do, the more valid the results

Bamboo, I didn't say they downgraded on the basis of what we said. They downgraded the school on the basis of inspection which was prompted according to their report by comments made on parentview.

bamboostalks · 05/11/2012 15:40

Where were you able to include comments though? I thought the format did not allow that. Just tick boxes.

MagratGarlik · 05/11/2012 18:27

Yes, comments in the form of "does you child feel safe in this school" - strongly disagree etc. I do apologise if the word "comments" is not accurate terminology, but find your attitude unnecessarily aggressive. I just stated my experiences of using it, which was after giving comment on the school, the inspection, which happened only a month later, said in the report that it had been prompted by comments via parentview.

bamboostalks · 05/11/2012 19:14

Apologies if I sounded aggressive, that was certainly not my intention. I am very interested in what you are saying however. Would you mind pm ing me the name of the school please.m

MagratGarlik · 05/11/2012 19:19

Apology accosted, thank you.

I won't pm the name of the school as it is only a 50 child primary, but if you are interested I will pm the excerpt from the report if you like.

MagratGarlik · 05/11/2012 19:20

Sorry, stupid phone. That should read accepted not accosted!

Predictive text can sometimes make for some interesting translations.

bamboostalks · 05/11/2012 19:24

Yes thank you. Would like to see it. If you could add the LA that would also be great.

annh · 05/11/2012 21:56

While I think it is good that parents with legitimate concerns should be able to express them and have them taken into account by OFSTED, I am still amazed and a bit worried that an inspection could seemingly be triggered by a SINGLE (anonymous) negative report on a school. If they're going to adopt that approach, I rather think they need to be dramatically increasing the number of staff doing inspections rather than cutting them!

Blu · 06/11/2012 12:48

The anonymity of this makes it laughable as a serious source of info.

ANYONE can contribute, parent or not. If it should have been done at all it should have been done linked to a school's parent portal so that each parent/set of parents registered at a particular school could contribute once from that ID.

TalkinPeace2 · 06/11/2012 16:54

Blu
when you log in you state that you are reporting on a school that your child attends
if you lie, you are lying to Ofsted and potentially jeapordising the outcome of inspection at your childrens' school
not a risk I choose to take

And what happens if someone logs on and reports in a school their child does not attend?

Aggrieved teachers sabotaging an ex employer? Heads and governors bigging up their own school? Mad competitive parents tryng to cut down competition for an oversubscribed school? I could see all those happening in my area of London!

It's madness out there, in schools competition land!

NewFerry · 07/11/2012 07:50

I filled this in a while ago, and this thread prompted me to go back and read the results. I just wish it said more clearly how many parents have responded as I was taking the results very seriously and then realised that only 3 other parents had respondedBlush

Elibean · 07/11/2012 14:50

I agree with Blu. Its a mad system and no one is likely to take the results seriously (I hope) - mostly because the majority of people filling in the form tend to be the ones with an axe to grind, or a vested interest.

You get very skewed views.
