Why can't I find anyone that has them in stock! All I need are some age 7 size. I'm off M&S as the last lot I bought went all grey dappley on the collar after a couple of washes. Does anyone know of an online store whe I can get good quality school shirts?

The Next 3/4 jersey white ones are gorgeous.
As an aside, am I imagining it or do lots of brands not do age 6-7, jumping instead from 5-6 to 7-8? Either that or they just sell out of this size super fast. Drives me nuts, as DD is 5, nearly 6, tall and slim but not 8 year old height yet. A minor rant. Excuse me Smile.

Another keen Next supporter. Only ever brought white long sleeve shirts from there... No that's a fib, I once bought M&S shirts & didn't experience any issues with the collars. Seeing as DS was a weekly boarder & his clothes were subjected to the matrons washing machines, (old, added holes to T-shirts etc), they wore quite well!

Startailoforangeandgold I agree so much with your every word about tights (especially as put so much better than my rant).

SoupDragon · 17/10/2012 07:14

My DSs have M&S shirts - the ultimate non iron ones (which aren't non-iron but [shrug]). The collars all seem fine on them - even the ones DS1 wore all last year. Odd.

SoupDragon · 17/10/2012 07:16

I get DDs tights from Primark as she wrecks them. Luckily though, she needs grey which they have loads of. At something like £1 a pair, they are virtually disposable.

However, I do wonder why I need to buy age 9-10 for my 6.5 year old DD - she's tall but she is not the size of a 9 year old!

EasyFromNowOn · 17/10/2012 07:28

Frontpaw - they have a choice of shirts or polo shirts, I bought shirts in the hope he would wear them, but he will only wear the polos. Apparently doing up all those buttons is far too much work Hmm

DD has the girls' ones - which if tumbledried (without a load of other stuff in) on the shirts setting and hung up after really don't need ironing. She had the first lot two years and they still looked absolutely fine.

But they're not in stock in age 7. I can understand the stores only stocking them seasonally, but online, surely they could keep enough in a warehouse to last over the winter.

Hello, white shirts. I have just had to buy some for a new job, I searched on line and ended up on ebay.

There are loads and loads of suppliers on there Long/Short/3/4 length. For Children/Men/Women

Good prices, maybe buy one, and if you don't like the quality return it.

Just a thought.

Was it a store? Linkey-loo?

We bought the M and S fairtrade long sleeved cotton ones last year they are washed in the schools industrial laundry and after a year look as good as the day I bought them. I also buy from John Lewis they too survive the industrial laundry well.

Frontpaw · 17/10/2012 13:12

So you bought them all!

I think we need a MN campaign on tight sizes!

It's ok if you have two DDs. All the ones that turn out to be far smaller than it says in the packet can be handed down.

However, it must be very frustrating for those with only one female child.

LineRunner · 17/10/2012 23:57

The new stock from George at Asda are surprisingly decent.

LineRunner · 18/10/2012 00:25

(And I really hate having to shop at Asda.)

Frontpaw · 18/10/2012 08:34

A smart person will set up an online store selling school uniform 'basics' all season - so plain shirts, polos, roll necks, socks, tights, etc and basic jogging suits and tights in all colours for flamin' costume days!

Startailoforangeandgold · 18/10/2012 10:53

Yes and spotty tights and T shirts for CINeedGrin

linerunner I'm glad it's not only me who hates ASDA.

Ours is cheap, but huge and just downmarket enough to e vaguely depressing.

mam29 · 18/10/2012 11:11

mmmmmmm uniform rants

george(asda polo shirts and shirts-rubbish

m&s white shirts bit too snug on arms and agree comes up small.

my dd school is grey

maybe its local issue but i struggle to find grey tights in age 5-6 last year and 7-8 seems worse always see stuff 3-4 or 9-10.

There seems to be lot of black we wear grey, think navy is harder.

Our school prefers logos rip off jumpers but if wanted onw brabd royal blues a paid in the arse round here the supermarkets presume we all wear red yet 5local schools navy, 2 royal blue and only 2schools i know of wear red so its baffling.

I do pitty the couple of schools with odd colours like yellow, green or turqoise.

I tried local uniform shop but extortionate prices.

Startailoforangeandgold · 18/10/2012 21:14

I have a friend who needs green, utter pain.

Black trousers and grey skirts are easy, grey tights are harder.
