Says it all really. She is a bright girl - good all rounder, and is in the G & T group for literacy. At the end of Year 1, her teacher said she had covered most of the work for Year 2 for maths and it would be up to her Year 2 teacher to decide what she would do nect year. DD1 tells me frequently that she is bored at school, apart from her G & T class, which she loves. I have raised this with her class teacher who says that it is her own fault that she is bored "there are lots of interesting things she could be doing if she joined in more." She cried this weekend as she has been put down to the third group (out of 4) for maths, is bored most of the time, but when she gets it wrong or doesn't understand something the teacher won't explain it to her properly and she feels stupid.
DD1 has a fairly quirky personality - shy and doesn't make friends easily and I think she doesn't get on with her teacher, which probably doesn't help matters.
We are seeing her class teacher next week - any advice? From the dealings I've had with this teacher, she is great at emphasizing the negative and very slow with praise. Other parents (and teachers) have commented on this as well, it's not just me!
