How did it go today?

Katymac · 28/03/2006 07:36

Thanks for asking Cadmum

I met with the Education Officer, when I spoke to him on Friday, he suggested withdrawing my complaint in order to negociate the action the school were taking.

Yesterday he said that I should not withdraw the complaitShock

We are having a meeting next week "sometime" with the head of govenors, the head teacher, Dh & I, the family support worker....who knows what will happen then?

KM, there is nothing to stop you removing dd from the school and home-eding until September. I did this with DS1 when the school failed to take any appropriate action relating to the bullying despite my repeated complaints and meetings. The head has subsequently apologised to me and acknowledged that the school failed DS1.

Have you seen their anti-bullying policy? Are they following it?

Katymac · 28/03/2006 08:13

I think the problem is less about the bullying now, and more about the way DD & I were treated.

I actually feel that the bullying will be effectively dealt with (esp as an Education Officer is involved)

I think that the eventual outcome will be that DD & her best friend will stay til the end of the year, so that it can be seen to be dealt with

I then think they will both move to a middle school (made slightly more complicated by BF being a year above)

I am pleased that you sound more content about the situation. I hope that things continue to improve as the school listens to your concerns.

I have just read through the threads and wish to offer my symaphy and support. My daughter is 14 and following bullying has become schoolphobic and has low self esteem. To cut a very long story short, I took her to a kidscape course in London last Friday. It was amazing. Would this help your daughter? Unfortunately. our situation is now one of damage limitation rather than one of getting her back to school. I too feel very let down by the school and am seriously thinking of home educating. I think you are a wonderful mother - I have discovered over the past few months that not every parent will support their child to the extend that you have. I hope that things become easier for you and your daughter and family. Please be happy in the secure knowledge that your daughter knows that you are trying to help her and that she must love you very much.

Thank you Faith8 - there have been times when I did not beleive I was doing the right thing

I now have to write/prepare information for the meeting on monday with the head, the chair of govenors, the "Senior Education Officer" and DH & I

I have no idea what to expect, I have no idea what to write

I don't really want to go and I certainly don't want DH there

Could your dad help you out again katymac? he is very eloquent and if you talk it through with him he can perhaps help you condense your thoughts into a pithy statement/notes that will help you out.

Katymac · 31/03/2006 20:55

Good idea, Miaou

I always go running to daddyBlush

I agree btw that he will help

I found out today that she couldn't go to the other school that is local cos it's over subscribed (from t's feeder schools)

Katymac, it's nothing to Blush about!!

It's very difficult to stand back and be constructive when you are in such a state about what has happened to you and dd. He has that little extra distance and perspective, plus the writing skills, so why not utilise them? I get the impression he is more than happy to help Smile.

(And I'm sure you know all this already, but sometimes it's nice to have concurrence Wink)

Katymac · 31/03/2006 21:23

Thanks - I just like the idea of sorting out my own problems
