My dds have a book each with over 225 spaces in them they both know what stickers they have/dont have and they know each others books inside out too...must be good for memory skills!

My sister bought my dd1 a Disney Princess Panini sticker book yesterday - and I too thought what a good idea they are, for number recognition if nothing else! (she's 5 btw)

you've made me all nostalgic - I did so many of these as a child!

alibubbles · 23/03/2006 07:18

My midies are collecting the shoot out football ones, there are 360 in all, as charliecat says, they exactly which ones they do and don't have,

It makes me cross when schools ban them. Children learn so much from bartering and negotiating swaps. The soon understand that to swap 6 'ordinaries' for a'shiny' makes good sense!

I still have my son' complete set of thunderbird cards, circa 1992 I think!

PollyLogos · 23/03/2006 08:01

My son used to collect Pokemon cards some years ago. I always used to say that if they had such stickers with educational facts on children would find learning easier! He used to know from memory all the facts and figures on each pokemen!

Something like horrible historys trump cards would be brilliant !

CC, I agree re the Horrible Histories Top Trumps - wouldn't that be fab? Someone ought to email Terry Deary, if he's not already working on it.

charliecat · 24/03/2006 10:13

Emailed himGrin Says he gets millions of letters a year though so whether it will get through or not!???

Phoar...quick response...

Penny
I just write the books, I don't have much to do with the products that
use
the HH licensed brand.
I know there are all sorts of plans for merchandise related to the book
series (CD-ROMs, stationery, board games, gift boxes, pop-up books and
annuals etc.) and top trumps may be one of the proposals on the table.
But I
don't own the Horrible Histories brand name and my own company keeps me
fully occupied with running three businesses, writing for radio, audio,
theatre and television, performing in various media and writing fiction
and
non-fiction. I would not be allowed the time to get involved in
devloping
merchandise that profited the publisher's brand name (Horrible
Histories) a
lot and my company brand name (Terry Deary) very little. If someone
comes
along and makes a successful bid to the lecensing company then a top
trumps
game will happen.
Sorry to be so vague! Hope you understand.
Terry Deary

premier league soccer things
the swapp events are good too

Fauve · 24/03/2006 13:36

You could tell him we're all desperate to have HH Top Trumps, so could he at least mention it in the right ear? Or forward the email to his publisher?

Also, Ian Hislop once did a rant on Have I Got News For You about how rubbish Pokemon cards were, and how the cards really ought to feature the kings and queens of England.

Give him a link to this thread, let him read it for himself!

(And can we please have more HH theatre productions as well - Vile Victorians and Terrible Tudors at Wimbledon Theatre were amazing [craven begging emoticon])
